Domaine Drouhin's Arthur is fresh & inviting on the nose, with beautiful citrus, lemon zest, grapefruit, white flowers such as magnolia, even some stony character, & a hint of toast. The acidity & the sense of minerality will remind you of Chablis, but the mouthfeel is purely Oregon. Very complex, this Chardonnay could be cellared for a couple years. Ripe, healthy fruit was h&-picked into small totes, & then whole-cluster pressed. Half of the juice was fermented in French Oak barrels (30% new) to create a round, rich texture. Flavours of pear, lychee & a touch of lemon custard present a complex, harmonious picture now, but the lively balance means you can easily cellar the 2016 Arthur for the next three to five years. ...

- a mix of velvety rose petals, violets & spices. On the palate, the texture is lush & mouth-coating, but well-balanced. Together, they provide definition & intensity, followed by refined, silky tannins. The finish is quite long, with beautiful cherry notes, reminding me of fresh cobbler in the peak of summer. While the 09 will age quite well, it is to my personal taste, delicious to drink today.
