The Hollick Wilgha vineyard is located on the south-western corner of the famed Coonawarra cigar & was first planted in 1975. Hollick Wines have been making a Shiraz from this property since 1988. The 2009 Wilgha Shiraz is a selection of the finest fruit from dry-grown, low yielding vines on the shallow terra rossa soil. Prolonged flowering occurred during November due to cloud & wind, resulting in a noticeable decrease in fruit set & a corresponding drop in crop levels. The vines resilience was tested in January with four consecutive days of heat, however the healthy canopies shielded the grapes from damage.
