Our tightly held VSV (or very special vineyard) wines are only made in exceptional years when a single site delivers the ultimate harmony of varietal & region. Ebenezer, in the north west of the Barossa is home to the Schrapel family who are 6th generation guardians of a very special patch of old vine Shiraz planted by their forebears in 1885. At over 300 metres above sea level, this 4 acre block is home to extremely low yielding, gnarled & twisted vines with their roots deep in the Ebenezer soils. This is a rare Shiraz from the Schrapel family’s 1885 vineyard. Only 600 cases produced. The colour is deep red with a black centre. The bouquet shows dark cherry & chocolate which leads to a stylish palate with soft tannins & great length of flavour. A delicious accompaniment for rare beef, game dishes of wild duck, hare & venison, hearty casseroles & a good aged cheddar. ...

The Barossa vineyard landscape is a fascinating mosaic of soils & microclimates & can produce an extraordinary range of wines each reflective of their particular terroir. Through our network of over 160 independent Barossa grape growers, we have access to a portfolio of vineyards that has no peer in the Barossa winemaking community. This Cabernet is a blend of two low yielding vineyards tended by Dudley & Trevor Ruediger, which is situated to the north of Nuriootpa on either side of Research Road, which neatly bisects the Light Pass & Ebenezer districts of the Barossa. To the east in Light Pass, the Cabernet grows on light sandy loam, & to the west in the Ebenezer district it grows on red, loamy clay. The Ruediger vineyards have produced a wine of great style & strength, that showcases just how good Barossa Cabernet can be. The colour is intense black/red. The bouquet is rich in blackcurrant & violets leading in to a richly flavoured palate showing fine grained tannins & a persistent finish. A perfect accompaniment to roast duck & goose, pigeon & quail. ...
