Cropped at 46hl/ha, this has a deep garnet/violet core. The nose has moderate intensity although it lacks the precision of the 2006. Blackberries, tinctures of mulberry & fresh tobacco, developing touches of violets with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, quite peppery, the tannins a little brusque at this early juncture, the finish dry & savoury, though lacking the weight & delineation I would like to have seen. A "capable" Haut-Batailley. Tasted April 2008.
