On the palate you detect much more of a port characteristic. The flavours are mint chocolate & walnuts, which lay the foundations for rise, Turkish delight & sweet Seville oranges. The Glenmorangie 12 year old Lasanta is an elegant but full bodied non chill-filtered Whisky. It has spent ten years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon held casks before being extra matured for a further two years in Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez in Spain. The name Lasanta is Gaelic meaning warmth & passion, & this whisky provides these two characteristics to the T. The 12 year old refines these two characteristics when it is left to mature in the Oloroso sherry casks, which brings an essence of the Spanish provenance to the Whisky. On the eye, Glenmorangie 12 is a light russet colour with an aroma of warm spices mixed with chocolate covered raisins, honeycomb & caramel toffee.
