The majority of fruit for this wine (Cabernet Sauvignon 46%, Malbec 25%) was sourced from the Justin Vineyard in the Frankland River area of the Great Southern growing region. Southern Australia in spring 2006 meant the vines were in excellent health in the lead up to harvest. The warm & dry weather of summer extended throughout the ripening & harvest period, resulting in fruit of excellent condition & flavour. Winemaking: Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec from Frankland River, were harvested at optimum flavour ripeness. The separate parcels were fermented in static fermenters, with careful management to attain excellent colour & tannin extraction. The wines were pressed & transferred to Bordeaux-coopered French oak for maturation over eighteen months. Following maturation, the wine was blended & fined with a small amount of egg white. Tasting Notes: Bright & luminous, inky red with a scarlet hue. The intense & brooding aromas display characters of mulberry, black cherry & cassis combined with tobacco leaf, cigar box & cinnamon oak notes. The concentrated palate shows vibrant red berry & raspberry fruits with flavours of dark chocolate & coffee. Fine tannins lend a rich velvety structure & provide the wine with great length & density.
