Fly aerobatics near Swindon! Go for some hair-raising loops & rolls high above the Oxfordshire countryside. We are offering 20 & 30-minute flights filled with aerial moves that’ll turn your world upside down.
You will be flying out of Sandhill Farm airfield for these Firefly experiences. It’s a discrete & friendly little airfield tucked in amongst the fields & farms around Shrivenham. Being just north-east of Swindon centre on the A420 it’s easy to get to from Oxfordshire & neighbouring Wiltshire too.
You will be flying over the countryside around Swindon in a Slingsby Firefly which is a bit of a gem for aviation fans. It’s a very capable two-seater aerobatic training aircraft that first flew in 1974 used by the RAF from 1995 to 2010 & much-loved by all.
Indeed the plane’s RAF trainer yellow livery & distinctive G-HONG registration is a nod to this Firefly’s story. Originally flown by the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force as a Police search & rescue support aircraft she returned to the UK when the unit disbanded. After a stint with the RAF she is now the star of the show at this airfield just outside Swindon.
And we must mention this Firefly is actually a T67 M200 version which is particularly rare as only 26 were ever built. She comes equipped with a more powerful 200bhp single engine & inverted fuel & oil systems - just what you need for performing aerobatics & that’s exactly what you’ll be doing on these thrilling experiences!
Whether you choose the 20 or the 30-minute Firefly experience there will be plenty of time for you to get some serious aerobatic flying moves under your belt. You’ll need to be mentally prepared for it. After all it’s not every day you find yourself upside in a plane! Buy your voucher for a spot of aerobatics out Swindon’s Sandhill Farm now & get inverted! ...
