It was a hugely popular if rather bland family saloon from Ford that was a big seller. Ford executive Walter Hayes saw great potential in the Cortina & looked to Lotus's Colin Chapman to transform the car into a racing icon. Colin did good. He took on an ordinary family saloon & turned it into something extraordinary. He then gave it to racing driver Jim Clark. Jim won the British Saloon Car Championships in 1963 in his first season driving the Mk I Lotus Cortina. The car became an icon of the motorsport world & received rave reviews. No wonder the Lotus Exige drives so fast for a car that has a fairly middling (in supercar terms) 345bhp. & as you will find out on your drive this Lotus Exige really does shift. It gives as much back as you put in so you can either go for a cruise or really push this car & it reacts favourably to both. We think you will love this mid-engined specimen of British-built automotive engineering. What's more you don't see many Exiges on the roads & even fewer of them of the track so this Lotus Exige experience will be right up your street.
