Chivas Brothers first created Royal Salute as a tribute to the finest aged Scotch whiskies to Queen Elizabeth II, to celebrate her coronation. It was a mark of respect to the new Queen, & the 2, 500 initial decanters were filled on the day of her coronation, the 2nd June 1953.
