Alain took over the running of the Michaud family domaine in 1973 & has steadily bought up small parcels of vines, increasing vineyard ownership in Brouilly & Morgon from 5 ha. to 12.5 ha. today. Some of the vines that provide fruit for his Brouilly date back to 1920 (50% are over 50 years old), producing wines with remarkable richness. Each parcel is picked & fermented separately, maturing for several months in old oak. Only then are the best parcels blended before bottlings twice a year: Easter & at the end of the summer. Michaud's Morgon is sourced from equally old vines.
