Soil: A part of the grapes comes from limestone & clay soils in the Agly Valley; the other part from granite soils at higher altitude (500m, later ripening sites). Harvest Grapes are h&-harvested. Vinification: After pressing, the must is cold-settled. Vinification is performed in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Maturing: Ageing lasts a few months in order to keep all the freshness & enhance the minerality.

Colour: pale yellow colour with green tints. Nose: the wine exhibits citrus aromas (lemon, grapefruit) with smoky notes. Palate: fresh & very aromatic attack. The palate is round, with a great acidity (coming from the later ripening sites at higher altitude). A lot of freshness on the finish mixed with salty notes, which express the minerality of the wine. All fish, shell fish. Perfect as an aperitive.

Soil: The plots are located on the slopes of the high Agly Valley. They are composed of gneiss & schist from the Devonian Period. Vinification: The crop is h&-harvested & entirely destemmed. The extraction is only performed by punching of the cap. The maceration lasts from 2 to 4 weeks according to daily tastings. Maturing: The wine is aged in vats.

Colour: deep garnet red. Nose: aromas of black cherry. Palate: this wine is fleshy, well-structured Beef, Mediterranean food.

Soil: The vineyard of Lesquerde is composed of hills, top plains & slopes which are made from granitic soil. Its 350m altitude provides a unique terroir. Harvest: Each plot is h&-harvested between 15th September & 15th October. This is harvested late because of the altitude & the nature of soils. Winemaking: Grapes are destemmed & maceration lasts around 4 weeks. Extractions are carried out by pumping-over. Temperatures does not exceed 32 Deg C. Maturing: 10% of the wine is aged in oak casks & the remain in concrete tanks.

Colour: the colour is intense, deep & steady. Nose: it shows maturity with aromas of black fruits & warm spices. Nice expression of the terroir with floral notes (violet), lightly smoky. Palate: the attack is both supple & powerful. The finale is fresh. Excellent with Osso Bucco.

Domaine de Durban is located in the hills to the east of the village of Beaumes-de-Venise & is owned & run by Madame Leydier & her son. It is from the Muscat grape variety that the famous vin doux naturel of Beaumes-de-Venise is made. Bernard Leydier claims that their wines are so much more aromatic, opulent & delicately coloured than others because they use 100% Muscat de Frontignan a Petits Grains Blancs

This is the outstanding estate in a village otherwise dominated by a co-operative & several large negociants. Production is traditional. in stainless steel tank at 15 degrees centigrade, bringing a volume of 7 to 10% neutral alcohol, to limit fermentation to a density of Approx. 1050 so that at least 110 grams of sugar remain per litre.
