The Barossa Valley, with its warm lingering summers, is a natural home for the noble rot, Botrytis Cinera. What can be a grapegrowers curse is masterfully crafted in this luscious wine that shows the beauty & diversity of the Semillon grape. The history of this wine dates back to winemaker Andrew Wigan's visit to the iconic Chateau d' Yquem in 1981, home to the world's greatest sweet wine. His time in their vineyards & winery inspired him to recreate the style in the Barossa. A beautiful bright gold colour which will deepen with bottle age. It has wonderful tropical fruit aromas with just a hint of citrus. It is a truly harmonious wine with a delicious lusciousness on the middle palate counterbalanced by tantalizingly complex acidity, the hallmark of botrytis wine. With creamy blue vein or washed rind cheeses. A delicious accompaniment for fruit flans, warm winter puddings & great with scrambled eggs for a luxurious brunch. Can be cellared for 20 plus years. ...

Eight Songs Shiraz was born of our love of art & music & inspired by an operatic work, ' Eight Songs for Mad King', first performed in the Barossa in 1993. The Barossa stands amongst the great wine regions of the world. From this region, Shiraz can express diversity in flavour, style & texture. The diverse terroir of our growers' Barossa vineyards is reflected in the character of our wines. Soils, elevations & vine age vary from one vineyard to the next. The heart of Eight Songs lies in the old Shiraz vineyards spread across the landscape of the Barossa. During the vintage, we walk these vineyards, which typically yield less than 2.5 tonnes per acre, tasting the fruit, seeking the concentrated flavours we need for this style of Shiraz. With Eight Songs we show an elegant & distinctly softer side to Barossa Shiraz. Fermented & matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads the palate shows dark plums, choc/ mocha notes with hints of vanillin undertones. The seamless integration of opulent fruit & velvety tannins creates an elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz at its sensuous best. A densely coloured shiraz showing hints of dark chocolate & black fruits. The palate is rich & soft, finishing with very fine tannins in the Eight Songs tradition. While drinking beautifully now, this wine can be cellared with complete confidence for a few more years as desired & it is recommended that the wine be carefully decanted 2-3 hours before serving, to allow it to open up. Eight Songs Shiraz sings with rare roast beef, rich casseroles, beef & game pies, & of course, a great aged cheddar. ...

The Masters wines are the top tier of Peter Lehmann's original classic Barossa varietals, made for the long haul & released with bottle age to capture their full potential. These wines are named after a person or event that has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story. Over his 50-year career, Peter Lehmann has inspired countless people by sharing his talent, wit & passion for winemaking. It is these characteristics we honour with Mentor. For this wine, we blended Barossa Cabernet with Shiraz & a dash of Malbec to create a wine with layers of texture & flavour. By drawing fruit from a number of Barossa sub-regions-each with their own unique terroir-the Mentor captures the immense regional definition of a great Barossa red. Having worked closely with the growers over the years, they share Peter's belief in growing wine, not just grapes, & work with the winemaking team to keep yields low & produce a complex wine, with rich & firm dark fruit flavour. The 2008 Mentor is a classic example of great Barossa Cabernet showing deep colour, intense dark forest fruits & a firmly structured finish. Mentor is an ideal accompaniment for rich duck, goose & game dishes. It is superb with oxtail, braised lamb shanks. ...
