Sourced from twenty vineyards, all Grand & Premier Cru, this is a stunningly good wine. With the classic Veuve Pinot muscularity redolent of red fruit & creme brulee, the wine is immediately seductive but has harmonious balance & a pleasing freshness on the finish. ...

Appearance: Clear, brilliant, gold colour lights. Persistent & remarkable effervescence. Nose: Delicate hints of toasted notes. Lightly candied citrus fruit. Dried fruits (apricots). The bold, lively, & pure flavour transforms into a powerful, structured palate, delicately chiselled from the minerality of Champagne's chalky terroir. The generosity of the Pinot Noir's fruitiness resonatse harmoniously with the freshness of the lightly candied citrus fruit aromas (lemon) which are embellished in the finish with delicate hints of toasted notes. ...

A Champagne House is eventually judged on the quality of its Brut Non Vintage. It is in the making of such a wine that the true Art of Champagne blending reveals itself. This is an art in which the House of Veuve Clic excels. Our Brut Yellow Label reflects the superb vineyards we own & the consistent nature of our House style. The predominance of Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot, while a touch of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance & finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine. Grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different Crus go to the blending of Yellow Label. Traditionally, the proportion of each grape variety used is: 50 to 55% Pinot Noir
- 15 to 20% Pinot Meunier
- 28 to 33% Chardonnay. These figures vary slightly from year to year according to conditions. The Chef de Caves has to achieve the total consistency of taste, which makes Yellow Label so immediately recognisable, so utterly reliable both in terms of quality, colour & bouquet. He will draw on priceless Reserve wines for the blend: from 25 to 35%, sometimes as much as 40% to ensure the continuity of the House style. Each of these older wines
- perhaps 9 years old
- is kept separately to preserve the unique qualities of the vineyard & the vintage. First, Yellow Label looks beautiful: golden-yellow, with a foaming necklace of tiny bubbles. Next it is so pleasing to the nose: initially reminiscent of white fruits & raisins, then of vanilla & later of brioche. Note the fine balance between the fruity aromas coming from the grape varieties & the toasty aromas following the ageing in the bottle. The first sip delivers all the freshness & forcefulness so typical of Yellow Label with a symphony of fruit tastes following on. Here is a true member of the powerful Brut family, well structured, admirably vinous. The lingering aromas echo & re-echo, with each fruit or spice note distinct. Veuve Clic Yellow Label manages to reconcile two opposing factors
- forcefulness & finesse
- & to hold them in perfect balance. This consistent power to please makes it absolutely ideal as an aperitif, & perfect as the Champagne to enjoy with a meal.

Veuve Clic - White Label Demi-Sec 75cl Bottle

True to the structure of Veuve Clic Wines, the Demi-Sec is blended largely from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The blend is completed by about a quarter of Chardonnay and 15-25% of reserve wines. A higher dosage gives it richer notes detracting from its freshness. A beautiful yellow colour with deep golden glints, and fine, even mousse. An intense fragrance reminiscent of ripe fruit (candied citrus fruit, fruit liqueurs) with notes of brioche and toast. Round and mellow in the mouth, with mild acidity maintaining a pleasant silkiness. The practice of decanting this wine, which dates to Madam Clicquot's time, makes it even more delectable. The Demi-Sec is at its best with desserts. Pastries and desserts based on fresh fruit, citrus and dried fruit will lend delightfully with the
wine's smooth qualities.
