Sandeman Fine Tawny port is produced in the traditional Port Wine method. The grapes are all hand picked & undergo stalk removal & crushing before fermentation. Wine alcohol is added at a precise moment to set the balance between the ports body & bouquet. After the harvest the wine created stay in the Douro valley until the following spring when they are taken to the V.N. Gaia where they enter Sandeman's century old ledges for ageing in oak wood casks. Throughout the port ageing process, it is constantly tasted by the oenology team who takes all necessary corrections as they prepare the final blend.
