Taylor's First Estate port is a classic reserve blend produced to commemorate the firm's acquisition in 1744 of its first property in the upper Douro Valley, the Casa dos Alambiques at Lugar das Lagas. Taylor's First estate port is a blend, created from full bodied young red wines from the Cima Corgo area. To intertwine the flavours from the separate blends together Taylor's matures its port for several years in oak vats which also helps mellow the port. Its intensely fruity flavours combined with aromatic elegance makes the First Estate a perfect port to join the Taylor family The First Estate is rich in looks with a dark ruby colour. The nose is potent of concentrated fruit crammed with blackcurrant, plum & liquorice flavours. It has a luxurious texture that is supported by a firm tannic structure giving the wine restrained elegance for Which Taylor's Ports are famous. ...
Taylor's Late Bottled vintage 2007, LBV, is the most popular premium port style in both England & Canada, representing one in five purchases of port in the UK & over a quarter of the all port enjoyed by Canadians. Late Bottle Vintages represent a selection of the very fine full bodied red ports from a single year. They are bottled late, remaining in wood between four & six years. During the ageing process, the port settles down & matures, making it ready to drink when bottled, unlike vintage ports that age in the bottle. It does not need to be decanted & can be served by the glass for several weeks after the cork is drawn. Late Bottle Vintage ports were developed as a high quality but more affordable & immediately drinkable alternative to vintage ports. It is said that LBV ports were first created in 1970 by Taylor's current Chairman, Alistair Robertson. This is why although many other port houses make LBV's, Taylor's remains the benchmark in the category & the first choice for knowledgeable port drinkers. On the nose, Taylor's Late Bottle Vintage 2007 has powerful dark cherry & black fruit aromas. The floral & herbal notes that come through on the nose add lovely nuances to the bouquet. The palate shows great intense fruit flavours & fantastic depth & complexity. ...

Taylors 2007 Late Bottle Vintage (LBV) was first feared it would never come to pass. Due to the winter preceding the 2006 harvest being extremely cold & dry, leaving the reserves for water severely depleted after an already dry & hot 2006. This in turn, meant that the growing season started later than usual, mainly down to the cold weather & shortage of water. The grapes produced in the whole of the growing season were marked by lower vigor & small berry size, but it also meant that if the harvest was complete, the grapes could be more flavoursome than usual. Although the rainfall was short & limited, in the heat & drought like conditions, the ripening process continued as normal, although at a slower pace than usual. Fortunately, the dry summer conditions were relieved by steady rainfall, giving the vines the critical relief that they needed, enabling them to complete the ripening process & deliver a perfectly ripe & well balanced crop with huge potential. The colour of the Taylors 2006 LBV is a deep ruby colour. The nose is elegant & combines fresh & intense blackcurrant & cherry aromas with subtle notes of liquorice & spice. On the palate the rich & concentrated black fruit flavour is supported by firm well-integrated tannin. True to the hallmark of Taylor's style, the wine shows great balance & finesse. ...

This blend became Teacher's Highland Cream & to this day, still contains the same high proportion of malt whisky. A malty & creamy whisky, rounded, smooth on the palate with an oaky & smoky finish. ...
