Taylor's Late Bottled vintage 2009, LBV, is the most popular premium port style in both England & Canada, representing one in five purchases of port in the UK & over a quarter of the all port enjoyed by Canadians. Late Bottle Vintages represent a selection of the very fine full bodied red ports from a single year. They are bottled late, remaining in wood between four & six years. During the ageing process, the port settles down & matures, making it ready to drink when bottled, unlike vintage ports that age in the bottle. It does not need to be decanted & can be served by the glass for several weeks after the cork is drawn. Late Bottle Vintage ports were developed as a high quality but more affordable & immediately drinkable alternative to vintage ports. It is said that LBV ports were first created in 1970 by Taylor's current Chairman, Alistair Robertson. This is why although many other port houses make LBV's, Taylor's remains the benchmark in the category & the first choice for knowledgeable port drinkers. On the nose, Taylor's Late Bottle Vintage 2009 has powerful dark cherry & black fruit aromas. The floral & herbal notes that come through on the nose add lovely nuances to the bouquet. The palate shows great intense fruit flavours & fantastic depth & complexity.
