Black Seal has a rich, intricate flavour, well balanced & nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla & caramel. Or, as expressed up by the Beverage Tasting Institute when they recently awarded it their highest honour, the Platinum Medal: ' Deep, assertive & highly flavoured. Very fragrant with herbal sharpness. At the finish there is a softness & elegance. A most complex, unusual spirit.' In the spring of 1806, London wine & spirits merchant James Gosling set out from England aboard the chartered clipper Mercury with 10, 000 dollars of merchandise bound for the Virginias. The voyage was a difficult one. Ninety-one consecutive days of calm left the crew & passengers in dire straits & the charter of Mercury was fast running out. The ship eventually made port in St. Georges, Bermuda, where Gosling & his family decided to set up shop rather than press on to America. James Gosling opened a shop on King's Parade, St George's in December 1806. To this day the company remains the oldest surviving business in Bermuda & is still a family concern. The corks were secured in place with the use of black sealing wax, prompting people to refer to the brand as Black Seal. ...

The famous Gosling's Dark 'n Stormy cocktail is now available in a convenient 250ml can, ready to drink. Gosling's Black Seal Rum & Gosling's Stormy Ginger Beer in a perfectly carbonated, 9% alcohol drink that's 100% authentic so there's zero compromise in taste. It's the genuine article with no mixing, no ice required. The Dark 'n Stormy had its start in the highly successful ginger beer factory run as a subsidiary to the Royal Naval Officer's Club. It wasn't long before it was discovered that a splash of the local Black Seal Rum was just what the piquant ginger beer was missing. The name is said to have originated when an old sailor, holding aloft the thunderhead in a glass, observed that the drink was the colour of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under. This was probably followed by, ' Barman, I'll have another
- Dark 'n Stormy'.

155 years seems long enough. So the deep, dark secret rum that we Goslings have enjoyed for generations is now going public. Appropriately called Gosling's Family Reserve Old Rum, it is crafted from the same incomparable Bermuda blend that they use for their renowned Black Seal Rum. But, they leave it resting in oak barrels even longer, aging it until it has acquired an extra luscious, nuanced complexity much like a rare Scotch or Cognac. Consider it the ultimate sipping rum. A spirit this unusual deserves more than the usual bottle & label. So they lovingly take each bottle, hand label it, dip it in wax, number it, encircle it with a metal band & then place it in a straw-filled wooden box reminiscent of days past. The Perfect Old Rum Recipe: 1 oz.
- blah, blah, blah 1/2 tsp.
- blah, blah 2 oz.
- blah, blah, blah Dash
- blah Gosling's point? Old Rum is built to savour as it is poured. Add ice if you must, but nothing else other than a little eager anticipation. Awards
- Double Gold Medal
- San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2005. Gold Award, Premium Category
- International Rum Festival, St. Johns, Newfoundland 2004.

For 206 years Gosling's Black Seal Rum has been searching for the perfect mate, often paired with ginger beer that's too sweet or too spicy. So Gosling's Stormy Ginger Beer was developed with one thing in mind, to be the ideal partner to Black Seal Rum & make the most harmonious Dark 'n' Stormy cocktail you'll ever drink. Gosling's Stormy Ginger Beer, its official name, took well over a year to formulate & perfect. We needed to hit the perfect balance between sweetness & spiciness, explained Malcolm Gosling, 7th generation President of the renowned rum maker, Gosling's Export (Bermuda) Limited. Our objective was to create a ginger beer that, when paired with our award winning Black Seal Rum, would produce the absolute perfect Dark 'n' Stormy. The Dark 'n' Stormy, a classic mixture of ginger beer & Black Seal Rum, is Bermuda's official national cocktail & has become wildly popular in the U.K. However, its taste can vary due to confusion over which ginger beer to use. Gosling's Stormy Ginger Beer is the product we recommend for the ultimate Dark 'n' Stormy, Gosling adds. Gosling's Ginger Beer is a refreshing, zesty soft drink by itself, as well as the perfect mate to Gosling's Black Seal Rum. For pallet enquiries, please visit our trade page. ...

Simply add ice cubes to your Mason Jar, pour in the ginger beer, then add 50ml of Gosling's Black Seal Rum, which settles on the top like a Dark 'n Stormy cloud. Add a squeeze of lime & drop in the lime wedge (optional). Sip & enjoy! The Dark 'n Stormy was discovered by the British Navy in Bermuda over 100 years ago, who made their own ginger beer & wanted to ' Spice' things up a little by adding the local Gosling's Rum. The drink took its name from the colour of a cloud that a mad sailor would dare sail under. This cocktail has since been trademarked which is unheard of in modern times. In the old days they would mix up a Dark 'n Stormy in whatever container they could find, most often an old jam jar & for the legions of Dark 'n Stormy fans out there we are now offering you the opportunity to recreate that in your own home. ...
