Taylors 40yo Tawny Port 75cl

Taylor's is one of the few remaining houses that still make a 40 year old port. After each vintage, a reserve of very concentrated and powerful red ports are laid to one side to age in oak casks. Those that have reached their peak after forty years are then blended together for balance and finesse and to ensure consistency of quality and style. The Grapes used for the 40 year old are grown on Taylor's own properties and consist of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cao & Tinta Amarela. Only very small quantities of this wine are made each year and after decades of evaporating and ageing in wood, the wine is concentrated to almost an essence. This produces intense and complex nutty, spicy aromas with a dense and concentrated palate, full of rich
mellow flavour. This is a sublime port of very great age which still has the old olive-gold hue of its many years in casks. Decades of evaporation have concentrated this astonishing wine to an exceptional density, with a powerful aroma of honey dried fruit and spice. Impressions of nutmeg, roasted coffee and an intense nuttiness converge both in the bouquet and on the palate.
