Classed as exceptional by drinks critic Simon Difford, this rum exudes character & is made on a single estate, where the they grow their sugar cane & distil the molasses before maturing in three different types of oak, that of Cognac, Bourbon & Whisky. With a colour of deep amber, the nose reveals notes of marmalade, melon skins & cloves, whilst on the palate is a soft, luxurious taste of glazed fruits, cedar wood & tropical spices. The rum is named after the first stamp produced for Mauritius, the Penny Blue, of which only 500 of the one penny were made & today sell for over $1, 000, 000!
