It can be said, that a lady who has had one too many drinks, may suffer from flushed red cheeks. That is exactly why this loose leaved lettuce has the name of Drunken Woman. The 20cm (8), mint green plants have red flushed leaves, yet unlike a true drunken woman, this plant stands well and is slow to bolt. Excellent on sandwiches, salads and added to stir-fries. Another great heritage variety with a fantastic, tongue in cheek name.
A great old French butterhead style lettuce, with a peculiar name. Nothing to do with a person, the name is actually describing the traits of the plant. This variety forms 'fat' 18-25cm (7-10) heads which are slow (lazy) to bolt in warm weather. The inner leaves are light green (blonde) in colour and delicious. Has a good resistance to downy mildew. A definite talking point for the veg plot.
A red-leaved Little Gem with leaves that have a soft, buttery texture. Excellent uniformity and disease resistance and impressive colour. Ideal for raised beds or garden.
