The Cercis siliquastrum also known as a 'Judas tree' is a bushy, deciduous small tree with heart-shaped leaves that are up to 10cm in width. His flowers are pink, pea-shaped and grow in clusters. This tree grows best in a well-drained soil with a lot of sun. It has purple coloured fruits that are about 12cm in length. It grows up to 8-12m high. Flowers May-June. Supplied in a 3 litre pot.
This is a real winner and in our opinion is the best Cercis on the market. Its main benefit which is completely unique is the stunning foliage that emerges as bright glossy red and when it fades it still remains a lovely burnt orange and then to yellow. With it continually producing new growth all season, it maintains this lovely fiery look of different colours which many plants only manage for the spring period. It also boasts lovely small pink flowers along the stems in early spring to add yet another season of interest and autumn yellow foliage later in the year.
